Deutsche Rentenversicherung Westfalen (DRW - German Pension Insurance, Westphalia) looks after more than five million insured people and employs about 1,900 personnel in its headquarters in Münster.

In 1998, its main building received a new, modern rotunda as an extension. Economic
and energy consideration played a central role when planning the extension.


Established partnership sets out on new routes.
Wilo and DRW have been working together successfully for decades. In
2000, Wilo suggested to DRW that they implement the newly developed high-efficiency Wilo-Stratos pump
as part of a field test before it was launched onto the market.
Impressed by the saving potential of controlled pumps and by the high
quality and reliability of Wilo products, DRW took up the offer
and replaced eleven of the hundred existing pumps with high-efficiency Wilo-Stratos
pumps. According to the technical manager, Günter Schültingkämper, the refit was managed without any problems or great expense.

Verifiable energy savings.
And the success was self-evident: in direct comparison with the existing
uncontrolled pumps, energy savings of 65 % were recorded
in normal operation.

Wilo-Stratos has self-control.
Furthermore, the Wilo-Stratos enables more savings every day. This is because
, while conventional pumps always run at the same power, the
Wilo-Stratos adapts itself to the current energy demand and regulates itself down to the
minimum energy consumption accordingly.

Also in air-conditioning and cooling applications.
A further advantage of this high-efficiency pump: as a single
controlled pump, it is also suitable for use in air-conditioning and cooling applications. Once
DRW had successfully tested the Wilo-Stratos, they decided to change all their
heating, cooling and air-conditioning technology in Münster to
Wilo-Stratos piece by piece.
