For a company that follows a rigourous sustainability strategy, efficient circulation of raw materials and components is one of the most urgent tasks.

The basic principle of sustainability envisages that if the needs of everyone on our planet are met, there are no negative effects for subsequent generations. For Wilo, as a manufacturer of pumps and pump systems, sustainability has a broader significance. By committing ourselves to the principles of sustainable business, we strengthen our competitiveness and thus ensure the future of our company.

Numerous accolades and prizes tell us that we are on the right track. One of the most important of these is the environment award from the German Industry Association that Wilo received in 2000. The development of our recycling concept for pump components was rewarded with 3rd prize in the waste utilisation and recycling category.

WILO AG received the environment prize from the town of Dortmund for its development of the energy-saving Wilo-Stratos high-efficiency pump. The jury rewarded the contribution made to CO2 reduction with 1st place. Wilo doubled the prize money and made the total available for a joint project with Dortmund University concerning the design of pumps and pump systems appropriate for recycling.

All these accolades are reassuring and, at the same time, a great incentive for the future to continue resolutely along the route we have adopted. We are aware of the great challenge involved in integrating all the necessary ecological, economical and social elements.
