Leading European pump manufacturer Wilo UK has taken its first tentative steps into football sponsorship! Based in Burton-on-Trent with the local side top of the Blue Square Premiership this season and with a resurgent Derby County just down the road with ex-Burton manager Nigel Clough at the helm, is it either of these teams they have chosen to support?

 

Neither is the answer. They have become one of the founder sponsors of the 2009 Building Services Engineering World Cup to be held later in the year in Liverpool.

The tournament which hopes to have 48 teams from around the world taking part, will support Everyman – the prostate cancer charity - with £100 from every teams registering for the tournament going to the charity. The FA and Liverpool City Council will manage and co-ordinate the playing venue and the teams will be playing for the CIBSE Trophy, donated by the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers.
