„BusinessWeek“: comparative study in 30 countries / Between the end of 2003 and 2006: 39 % more employees / Further increase in 2007 / Building of the electronics production as a success story /

Dortmund. The WILO AG is among the most successfully growing companies in Europe which have increased turnover and employment by at least 30 % between 2003 and 2006. This is the result of the survey “Europe´s 500 job creating companies” carried out by the economy magazine “BusinessWeek“. The business development of independent medium-sized companies, which had employed less than 5,000 salaried people at the cut-off date on December 31st 2003, were analysed in the survey. Companies from all 27 member states of the European Union as well as Switzerland, Norway and Iceland were surveyed.

The pump expert is ranked number 120 among the European top 500. The report states the following growth rates for Wilo: 39 % in employment and 40 % in turnover. The number of the employees increased from 3,836 on December 31st 2003 to 5,328 on December 31st 2006. In this period, a few hundred new jobs were created in addition to small acquisitions. In 2007, this positive development continued.

Dr. Thomas Schweisfurth, Chairman of the Executive Board of the WILO AG says: “The production of electronic components at our German headquarters in Dortmund, which exists since 2002, is a wonderful example for creating jobs at Wilo. Here an excellent competence has developed which shall not dread international comparison.“ Dr. Schweisfurth evaluates the international top position as the confirmation of a growth strategy aimed at long-term: “Wilo focuses equally on maintaining and extending European sites as well as on further internationalisation, i.e. opening up and handling new growth markets with own sales companies.“
