Wilo UK amongst the five winners / Award in the category Environmental/Energy Saving is a proof that relationships work from an energy saving perspective / Wilo high efficiency pumps for a wide range of applications 

Designed to promote best practice in key areas of manufacture and supply including, innovation and achievement, energy saving, sales growth, customer care and employee motivation, the Pump Industry Award this year recognised five companies and two individuals for excellence in the pump and pump-related industries. Amongst the winners Wilo UK is celebrating receiving the Award for Energy-Saving Pump Installations at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth in the category Environmental/Energy Saving.

The company, whose headquarters is based in Dortmund, Germany, is overlooking a tradition of 135 years in the manufacturing industry. “Since energy saving has gained crucial importance during the last years, winning this award shows that our efforts aim in the right direction,” Dirk Geissler, head of Group Marketing of WILO AG, comments the winning of the award. Wilo UK Managing Director Stuart Herritty adds, that winning the award was great news but it meant even more than just winning an wawrd: “For us, this award is proof that the relationships we are building across the country work in every way – from a business point of view and from an energy saving perspective as well.  Our partners in this project, the NHS Trust and BSS, whose Plymouth branch has been instrumental in securing the contract and supplying all the new equipment, are as pleased as we are to win this award and whilst it’s a little bit ‘like the Oscars’, wanting to thank everyone, this award really is for everyone in the project team, not just ourselves.”

The annual awards are organised by the BPMA – the British Pump Manufacturers Association and supported by DataTeam Publishing Limited and World Pumps Magazine. WILO AG won the Environmental/Energy Saving Award category from a shortlist of five companies vying for the title for 2007.

Wilo’s entry was for the project to replace a number of elderly, energy guzzling pumps at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth with the company’s new, energy efficient pumps, which to date have already saved the Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust around £75,000 a year on their electricity bill, with the potential to save even more as the on-going programme to replace existing pumps continues.

Wilo’s wide range of high efficiency pumps incorporates models from small domestic circulator pumps right through to large commercial pumps, for virtually every end use.
